Abstract submission closed

The link for submitting abstracts has been closed now. We have received about 60 abstracts by now and are very grateful to you all for meeting the deadline. As the next step, we are getting acquainted with abstracts, share them with the chairs for the working groups, and inform their senders on the decisions about them within this week. However, if you failed to meet the original deadline, but would still like to present a poster or discuss your paper at a working group, perhaps not all is lost yet. In the case of a virtual poster, please contact Ms Roosa Mäkelä (roosa.makela@polamk.fi) and for papers at a working group, Dr Jenita Rauta (jenita.rauta@polamk.fi), the sooner the better. Moreover, the situation looks quite promising for publishing a separate conference proceedings 2021 after the event too. More to follow later of it.

Virtual Poster Presentations

We would like to encourage the attendees to inform the participants to the Conference about their police related pursuits, whether practical, research-based, theoretical or philosophical, in our poster sessions. Send us a video recording (MPEG-4) or a public link to it that we can made available at the Preconference. The video should be no longer than 15 minutes. The poster session itself provides an opportunity to discuss about the subject of the poster personally. We shall facilitate the latter by providing each presenter an individual online discussion venue and expect the presenter be available this way at the date and time announced at the programme.

Virtual Working Groups

The initial screening for presentations at the working groups will be done on the basis of abstracts submitted to us. For each accepted presentation we expect the author(s) to provide a longer paper (5-15 pages in English [pdf]) or a public link to it in advance and allows us to make it available at the Preconference. We shall provide at least 20 minutes time online for each paper at the working group and expect the other participants to it having an understanding of the paper that makes the discussion of it more fruitful.

Curiosities for an Online Conference

Due to the Pandemic, the Nordic Police Research Conference 2020 will be held as an online event in June 2021. We have now published the important dates for it for the third time. We acknowledge that there may be changes to all the other dates expect the Conference itself. It is either on June 14-16 or not at all and we are determined to make it happen then.

Our idea is to open a Pre-Conference a week before the main event by making the Key Note Speeches, Papers to be presented at the Working Groups and Poster presentations available before the very event. We have not solved all the technical issues involved, but are working on them and hopefully, able to test the solutions to them in advance too. While there will be problems ahead, we have time to solve them or find our way around them too.

After publishing the important dates, we shall work to republish the main programme for the Conference. The previous list for the Working Groups still exists in the electric form used for submitting an abstract for the Conference. However, it should be seen as a sketch only. The final one will reflect the abstracts received.

As we have now an over-all vision to the Nordic Police Research Conference and how we would like too it unfolding, we can focus on details. At the moment we can only ask patience from you. We also acknowledge, that in a very concrete sense we can only provide the platform for you and your research to stand out and make the event an insightful and informative one for us all.
